Third Sector Photography

Chris Scott Photography is a valued and experienced photography partner to many third sector organisations.

The natural enthusiasm and connection in our shots complements the message of empathy and hope that you as charities and third sector organisations know attracts attention.

Although we’re happy to do a one-off powerful PR shoot, we like to develop relationships where we can tell the stories behind your cause in an uplifting and inspiring way.

We understand the need to demonstrate the difference that donors can make, through highlighting the important work of the charity and what the donations achieve.

But we also know that when working with charity clients or users, empathy is vital. There is no way to tell how delicate or engaging the subjects will be.

Our job is to create the atmosphere that will produce the perfect image that encapsulates the message behind your cause.

We like to show the power of team spirit and what it can do. Our belief that there is always light at the end of the tunnel makes the difference between a decent picture and an outstanding image that sums up the difference that charities can make.

Case study – the Oor Wullie Bucket Trail

We have built up a close relationship with the ARCHIE Foundation through our work on the famous Oor Wullie bucket trails.

The project was held twice – once in 2016 and again in 2019 – and boosted provision for children and young people in hospital. Over £1.5million was raised with a public art trail celebrating Scotland’s favourite son, Oor Wullie, as well as associated events and five city auctions.

We worked with the stakeholders to photograph all the Oor Wullie art pieces in the warehouses for the brochures. We also produced the images to attract sponsors and to illustrate the auction catalogues.

Engaging and eye-catching media imagery was a key part of the campaign, and our images featured across the Scottish media and on the BBC. Coverage spread as news of the campaign grew, reaching across the rest of the UK and Ireland – you can see some of it here

The 2019 event created the world’s very first nationwide art trail.  Three children’s hospital charities – the ARCHIE Foundation, Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity and Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity – joined with international arts events firm, Wild in Art with the support of DC Thomson Media, custodians of Oor Wullie.

This made it logistically challenging for us to get to each location, set up mobile studios, and get the shots against a tight deadline, but we are masters of making things happen!

Working closely with the ARCHIE Foundation team, we got all 500 sculptures photographed across four cities in just six days.

And the results for the charity were incredible. The sculptures on Oor Wullie’s BIG Bucket Trail were “unlocked” by app users more than one million times.

Chris did the first trail absolutely free of charge, due to his belief in the cause, and we are always happy to offer special discounted rates to good causes.
