Same sex weddings are always beautiful.
Same sex weddings are always beautiful, but there was something extra special about the wedding of Andrew and Xiaolong. Dunfermline might not be quite as exotic as Shanghai, the place that the couple first met, but it’s the place that made the couple’s dream of getting married, a reality. Andrew and Xiaolong’s wedding took place on a beautiful spring day in Dunfermline. Both men looked very dapper in matching black suits with white waistcoats and red ties and coordinated beautifully.
Before the couple were officially married, we all made our way to the Forth Rail Bridge in North Queensferry for some pre wedding photos. As well as capturing the mood of the day, posing for these photographs also gave the pair some time to stop and reflect on their new status of Mr & Mr, on the whirlwind of a day.
The ceremony was held in the Dumfermline City Chambers where their official marriage ceremony took place. It was a very emotional service and you could feel the warmth and love the couple clearly hold for each other. It included heartfelt readings from the guests, although Xiaolong’s family sadly couldn’t make the long trip to witness the wedding, the love and support that he received from his Scottish friends and loved ones was very touching.
The next stop was the King Malcolm Hotel on the outskirts of Dunfermline, where the couple held their reception. The men arrived at the reception in style in a magnificent old Jaguar. The reception room for decorated beautifully in white and red, including a gorgeous three tier wedding cake and red roses and gerberas to coordinate with the men’s suits and the theme for the day.
Before the scrumptious wedding meal, the couple both delivered very witty and emotional speeches which had many of the wedding guests in tears of emotion and laughter, with Xiaolong clearly taking the speeches to the next level. The whole room was just roaring with laughter and rightly so.
The evening reception gave the couple and all their guests the chance to let their hair down! The couple started off the evening by performing their first dance and it wasn’t long before the dancefloor was filled and Andrew and Xiaolong were surrounded by their friends, family and loved ones. It was the perfect way to end a beautiful day and to officially begin their new marriage life.
As the couple had chosen my Collection 2 offering which includes a pre wedding shoot, post wedding shoot and a bespoke wedding album. I met with them two weeks later to capture a few more wow shots.
It’s always such a pleasure to do these shoots, as once the pressures and constraints of the wedding day are taken away, the couple can relax more and enjoy the whole photography experience. It also gives them some extra special mementos to add to their wedding album.
Same sex weddings in Dunfermline are always beautiful, but this wedding was very special in many ways. This the first of hopefully many same sex weddings that I have the pleasure of photographing and it truly was an honour and privilege to be part of Andrew and Xiaolong’s wedding day. The love that they have for each other was plain to see and I wish them both a lifetime of happiness together.
